Therapies » Interventions » Head & Neck » Sphenopalatine Ganglion Blockade

Certain chronic headaches like migraine, cluster headache and some situations like allergic nose problems, neuralgic pains and atypical facial pain seem to benefit from this ganglion blockade. Patient is kept in observation for 1 to 2 hrs following the procedure to watch for discomfort. Even after discharge, patient might feel uncomfortable for few weeks, which settle down over course of time. If the diagnostic block with numbing medications (local anaesthetics) gives good relief, radiofrequency denervation can be considered.
