Sympathectomy is indicated for many conditions like CRPS, peripheral vascular diseases and other sympathetic mediated painful conditions. The minimally invasive methods of neurolysis either with neurolytics or radiofrequency lesioning along with imaging methods has definitely many advantages over other methods. 
The procedure is done under X-ray or CT scan control. Patient is made to lie in side or prone position. Patient should be monitored for at least two hours following the procedure for any problems.
