This technique is the simplest of all epidural procedures. Its application in various acute, chronic and cancer patients makes it a versatile technique.
This technique has certain advantages over lumbar epidural injection. They are as follows:
- technically less demanding than lumbar epidural
- smaller and thinner gauge needle can be used which are less expensive
- procedure related pain and discomfort is less
- Caudal epidural injection is done either in prone or lateral position.
