The facet joint injections are done either with local anaesthetics or steroids. The joint injection should provoke the pain from which patient suffers. Following the completion of injection the patient is asked to rate his pain while attempting to provoke his usual symptoms. Significant pain relief (more than 60%) would be a positive sign for further repeat procedure of median branch radiofrequency ablation of the concerned lumbar facet joint. Sometimes the joint might be so deranged, it is difficult to enter the joint.
