Large segment of people with backache continue to suffer from unrelieved problem of pain despite the currently available pharmacological, interventional and surgical therapies. This is so because of problem of localizing the source of pain. One of the most unrecognized problems happens to be the micro - or macro-adhesions in the epidural space because of either inflammatory or traumatic episodes. The adhesions between nerve roots and the surrounding structures contribute to the unrelenting backache symptom complex like pain, tingling, numbness, and stiffness. It is a useful procedure for relieving intractable chronic pain when other modes of treatment have not helped much.
